This year, we are asking you to raise your paddles to help fund Loyal Heights Elementary Student Support Services. These services include counseling, tutoring and family supports, which are all vital in creating a well-rounded, well-running school!
One of the goals of Loyal Heights is to meet every child where they are, academically and emotionally. You see this everyday walking through the halls. Children are reading with specialists or placed in math groups to make sure they are working at the level that is best for them. Student groups such as the Pride Alliance, Green Team and Friendship Groups are formed to make sure students are heard and feel safe and included. Referrals and resources are provided for those that need more assistance, and food and gift cards are given out to make sure that everyone is fed and clothed.
Even if your child has not directly visited with our counselor or used our tutoring services or family supports, they surely know a friend who has. These services have an impact on everyone and allow ALL of our children to thrive and succeed together in a classroom setting.
Messages From Our Staff:
Counselor –
We are so fortunate at LHE to have a full-time counselor. She wears many hats and touches every child in one way or another. She teaches Social emotional lessons in classrooms, runs different groups and clubs, including friendship groups, Student Council and the pride club. She is available for drop-ins and check-ins as needed and is a resource for families. It’s hard to imagine how we could continue to support students in the same way without her.
- Mrs. Payton, P.E. Teacher
Tutoring -
As teachers we love the support from our tutoring program. It supports students who can benefit from one-on-one or small group instruction in reading and math. Teaching is all about differentiation and meeting the needs of students in a span of capabilities. The support we get from the tutoring program helps us meet those needs. We honestly couldn’t do what we do at LHE without each of these valuable services that support all students and teachers.
- Mrs. Colwell, Kindergarten Teacher
Family Support –
The LHE PTA provides many support services. One service comes from the family support fund. The fund allows us to help families that need groceries, clothing, gas and sometimes it helps get them through to their next paycheck. The fund also provides scholarships for field trips, school photos and enrichment programs. By supporting our Fund-A-Need, you are making sure a family has food on the table, a student has clothes and shoes, and can join a field trip or after school program with their friends. Your support ensures all students are coming to school having their basic needs met and are ready to learn.
